What’s in a Name

The genesis of our company's name Argali is based off of one of our founders love of the Marco Polo Argali Sheep.

The Marco Polo Argali is particularly known for its long, spiraling horns which are the longest horns of all sheep. The sheep are named after the 13th century explorer Marco Polo who described them in The Travels of Marco Polo. The Marco Polo Sheep reside in the remote mountainous regions of Central Asia.

Unfortunately, despite this majestic animal living in as remote a location as possible, the effects of climate change brought on by humankind has begun a devastating cycle that could see this species of sheep become extinct.

As a result of lower seasonal snow packs, fresh water and soil moisture, these sheep have been forced to climb to higher levels and increasing their risk of being killed by predators.

The Argali sheep is a perfect example showing that climate change effects everything and everyone on our planet regardless of location.
